Vortex flow sensors
Vortex flow sensors
from 0.5 to 240 l/min
Vortex flow sensors measure precise volume or Mass flows based on the principle of the Kármán vortex street - reliable, low-maintenance and versatile.
No moving parts, no compromises on accuracy

The vortex flow sensors from Huba Control are based on the physical principle of the Kármán vortex street. They precisely measure the flow rate of low to medium viscosity Process media in a wide range of applications. Thanks to their very fast response time of less than 5 ms, they provide continuously reliable flow values - ideal wherever fast and accurate measurement is required, for example in dispensing operations.

The robust, compact design with no moving parts prevents mechanical wear and ensures long-term stable and low-maintenance measurement. The wide product range includes numerous flow ranges, different output variants and connection options.

For applications in refrigeration and air conditioning technology as well as heat pumps, for example, R290-compatible versions (types 200 and 235) and specific variants of types 210 and 236 are available. The 240 series is also completely PFAS-free and designed for system pressures of up to 16 bar and up to 125 °C.

Advantages
  • Almost free pipe cross-section: Ideal for applications where maximum energy efficiency and performance are required, as the low pressure loss has little impact on the efficiency of the overall system.
  • Long-term stability, no zero-point drift: Stable measured values over the entire lifespan thanks to low-maintenance and long-life operation.
  • Very robust measuring principle: Reliable function even with severe temperature fluctuations.
  • Integrated temperature measurement: Automatic viscosity compensation ensures permanently precise measurement data - regardless of temperature fluctuations in the medium.
  • Conductivity-independent measurement: Versatile in use, as the measurement is independent of the electrical conductivity of the medium.

Functional principle of the Kármán vortex street
An interfering body in the media flow creates vortices, the frequency is directly proportional to the flow velocity of the medium and thus to the volume flow. The sensor detects these vortices and the integrated electronics convert the frequency into a standardised output signal.
Push-in connection with copper pipe
For types 200 and 210 , a plug-in connection is available as a practical accessory, which enables the sensors to be installed quickly and easily in pipes with nominal widths of DN 8, 10, 15 and 20, saving on materials. This significantly simplifies installation and ensures efficient integration into various pipework systems.
Encapsulated sensor element: vortex detection without medium contact
The encapsulated vortex detection ensures permanently precise flow measurement by completely separating the sensor from the medium. This design minimises deposits, offers high chemical resistance and ensures long-term stable measurement performance.
The right housing: protective shield against medium and time
The housing material is a decisive factor for lifespan and reliability. Huba flow sensors are available in plastic, Stainless steel, brass and red brass - suitable for different media and operating conditions.
Plastic
For applications with water and non-aggressive media, e.g. in building services engineering. Not suitable for high temperatures or aggressive chemicals (DN 6 - 25).
Red brass
Highly corrosion-resistant, preferably for drinking water applications and heating systems. Suitable for medium pressures and temperatures (DN 10 - 25).
Brass
Robust, versatile and durable. Frequently used in building services and for neutral Process media. Not recommended for aggressive media (DN 8 - 32).
Stainless steel
For aggressive media, high temperatures and pressures. Used in chemicals, cooling systems and the food industry where maximum resistance is required (DN 8 - 32).
