VAV Damping

A simple VAV unit system contains an integrated differential pressure sensor, controller and actuator; the purpose of the system is to control the amount of supply air that enters into a zone. The damper controls the increase / decrease of the air flow entering the air duct (it closes completely as soon as the requested conditions on the room are reached).

The type 450 measures the pressure difference which is the imput signal of the controller. That helps, among other signals, to control the damper (open / close). The air flow on the system is calculated through the formula Q=k*√Δp, where the pressure difference can be measured by type 450.

Benefits of the type 450 in VAV system:

  • Excellent accuracy, even at low pressures
  • Excellent long-term stability
  • Temperature pressure compensation from -10°C up to +80°C
  • Data transmission possible via I2C digital
